From Bridges to Dashboards: Viktor’s Six-Year Journey at Funnel
Viktor’s six years at Funnel have been a journey of growth and learning. Today he is a part of the Explorers team, shaping how customers visualize their data in Funnel. In this post, he shares insights into his career, the challenges his team is working on, and the culture that drives innovation and teamwork at Funnel.

Can you tell us about yourself and your role at Funnel?
I’ve been at Funnel for six years, and it’s been an inspiring and rewarding experience. Previously, I worked as a structural engineer designing bridges, a job I truly enjoyed because of the problem-solving involved and the opportunity to contribute to something tangible. In that role, I used programming to create a tool that simplified a complex task for both me and my colleagues. That experience opened my eyes to the potential of programming and made me realize it was something I wanted to explore further.
That was when I joined Funnel as a developer, focusing on coding and maintaining integrations to retrieve data from various ad platforms. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work in several teams. Now, I’m part of the Explorers team, where we focus on developing our dashboard solution that enables users to visualize their data in Funnel.

How would you describe the Explorers team’s focus, and why is its work so important to Funnel’s success?
I believe that dashboards are instrumental to Funnel’s success. Our solution enables customers to analyze and visualize their data directly within Funnel, making it much easier to uncover valuable business insights. Previously, this functionality wasn’t available in Funnel, and analysis was often conducted using external tools like Looker Studio. By having an in-house dashboard, we can develop more tailored solutions for our customers, ensuring their needs are met even more effectively in the future.
What are some of the key challenges you and your team are solving right now?
Right now, we’re focused on enhancing how our customers use and share dashboards. One exciting feature we’re developing is “portals”, which helps digital marketing agencies share dashboards with their clients securely and efficiently. With portals, agencies can control access, track usage, and even customize dashboards with their own branding, streamlining communication and strengthening client relationships.

Alongside developing portals, we’re continuously refining our dashboards to keep them versatile and aligned with customer needs. Some examples of recent updates are performance improvements, new chart types and pivot tables.
From your perspective, what do you enjoy most about being a developer at Funnel?
There’s so much to love about Funnel, but the people and the culture truly stand out. Everyone here is approachable, helpful, and easy to collaborate with, creating an environment where you’re constantly learning and growing alongside your colleagues.
Equally important is the autonomy we have as developers. We’re trusted to identify problems, come up with solutions, and implement them as a team. That trust fosters creativity and a strong sense of ownership. While we follow a clear product roadmap that provides the company’s high-level direction, it’s up to us to decide how to prioritize and execute the work. We don’t just follow instructions, we’re given the space to innovate and make decisions that align with the company’s goals.

When you’re not coding, how do you like to spend your time?
First and foremost I like spending time with my wife and daughters. Besides that, I’m a huge sports enthusiast. I’ve played soccer since I was six and I also play floorball regularly. In the summers, I often participate in triathlons, and in 2018, a dream came true when I successfully completed an Ironman. When I’m not out on the field or in the water, I enjoy quizzes. Swedish TV game show På Spåret is a personal favorite.
