Senior Data Engineer
Why This Role Matters
We aren’t just moving data; we are building an agentic data integration platform. These are systems that don’t just execute scripts they understand, validate, and adapt how marketing data is ingested, modeled, and exposed.
As a Senior Data Engineer at Funnel, you will build the foundation that powers autonomous, intelligent systems. Your work directly shapes how AI agents reason about schemas, metrics, and customer intent at scale, across hundreds of APIs and thousands of tenants. We are turning traditional ETL into a self-evolving ecosystem that makes informed, explainable decisions.
One Vision, Two Domains
We are currently looking for Senior Data Engineers to apply this agentic approach to different parts of our ecosystem. While the core tech stack and "agentic" philosophy are shared, the focus of your impact differs:
1. Agentic Data Integration (External Impact)
The Focus: You will build the engine that powers the Funnel product for our customers.
The Goal: Designing integration systems that can autonomously infer structure from raw API data and adapt logic as upstream sources change. You are building the "brain" that enables thousands of global brands to trust their marketing data without manual intervention.
2. Internal Data & Analytics (Business Impact)
The Focus: You will create the scalable, high-quality data layer that supports Funnel’s internal teams like Marketing, RevOps, and Sales.
The Goal: Building a world-class internal lakehouse where agentic solutions reason about our own business metrics. You will turn internal data engineering into a system that provides self-service, explainable insights for our own growth.
What You Will Do
Design semantic models: Evolve data models that are readable by both humans and autonomous agents, ensuring raw data is transformed into trustworthy, analytics-ready datasets.
Build adaptive systems: Create pipelines that reason about API data, detect inconsistencies, and self-correct when upstream schemas shift.
Turn the "practical know-how" of senior engineers into logic that systems can use to make smart, reliable decisions.
Enable feedback loops: Build mechanisms where the system improves by learning from past errors and observing how users actually interact with the data.
Define data contracts: Establish clear boundaries for how data is transformed, ensuring downstream teams (and agents) have 100% confidence in the output.
Skills & Experience We’re Looking For
5+ years of professional experience.
Strong proficiency in Python and data frame libraries such as Pandas, Polars, or similar.
Hands-on experience with modern table formats (e.g. Apache Iceberg, Delta Lake, or Hudi), including schema evolution and partitioning strategies.
Experience working with S3-based lakehouse architectures and tools such as Spark, Flink, or Trino, along with columnar data formats like Parquet or Arrow.
Solid foundation in data warehouse modeling techniques and data contract enforcement.
Exposure to, or strong interest in, LLM-driven transformations, semantic layers, and AI-assisted data workflows.
Location & Eligibility
At this time, we can only consider applicants who are already based in Stockholm and meet one of the following criteria:
Hold Swedish citizenship
Hold EU/EEA citizenship and are currently living in Stockholm
Have a valid Swedish work permit
Office-first
At Funnel, we have an office-first approach, and we work from the office four days a week. We have lots of flexibility for when life happens, during the summer, through the holidays. We just like to avoid having standing remote days.
