We are expanding our Legal team in the US and are looking for full time Legal Counsel to join us! Are you experienced in commercial software or technology contracts and have a strong commercial mindset? Are you looking for a collaborative working environment and international context? Then we need you to join the ride!
*We are office first from our Boston office - 3 days/wk onsite and the ability to work remotely the other 2

What you will do
This is a legal counsel role which focuses on commercial business contracts and involves managing and supporting projects across the full range of subject matters supported by the Legal team.
Main responsibilities include:
- Reviewing, drafting, and negotiating a variety of commercial agreements with different types of counterparties, including, collaboration partners, service providers and customers
- Continue to expand and reinforce the Legal team’s role as a business partner to the commercial team, and other Boston teams
- Providing legal advice to all teams across the business, summarizing and communicating legal concepts and risks in a way that is meaningful for their day-to-day activities
- Delivering legal projects with on-time results
- Refining and improving legal department tools and processes to streamline new or existing practices
- Supporting a variety of ad hoc projects within the company and Legal team as they arise
The Team
You will report to the Head of Legal US in Boston (Kate Montgomery), and work together with the Legal colleagues in Stockholm where we continuously share updates, our experience and make sure we use the expertise of the team. We are keen to keep the Legal team accessible and approachable for the entire business, striving to be business partners and enablers of the business rather than bottlenecks. To enjoy working in our team, it is important to know that we are embracing new solutions in terms of delivering legal advice - we generally deliver legal advice in open Slack channels, some by emoji triggered responses, rather than by classified memos - and while the advice needs to be on point, we will spare the legalese to make sure that everyone understands our messaging.
Who you are
To thrive in this role, it is important that you embrace the scale up culture and that you are flexible and able to adapt to changing priorities and business needs in a rapidly evolving environment. As an integral member of a small Legal team, you must be able to work independently, while also being keen to bring your expertise in and learn from other colleagues in the team.
Further, we believe that you have:
- 2-4 years of attorney work experience in commercial contracts, software licensing contracts and intellectual property related matters at a law firm and/or with in-house experience with technology companies
- Admitted to the bar and in good standing or otherwise authorized to practice law in Massachusetts - Ability to practice in other states a plus
- Commercial contract drafting and preferably negotiation experience
- Strong communication skills and ability to simplify highly complex problems
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving skills with a commercial mindset
- Proven track record of collaborating successfully with cross-functional teams (e.g. Sales, Customer Success, Finance, Information security, People, etc.) delivering business-oriented and actionable legal advice
- Willing and eager to take on projects involving unfamiliar subject matter
It is a big bonus if you have SaaS experience, digital marketing experience, intellectual property experience and/or privacy/data protection experience.

To attract talented individuals, our compensation is “market” and our benefits are quite generous. We are happy to discuss this further during our initial call
Where is Funnel located?
Funnel’s US office is at 175 Federal Street, Boston, Massachusetts, and the corporate headquarters are in Stockholm, Sweden.
Are you okay with remote work?
We come into the office 3 days a week. In the future, we plan to continue this hybrid policy - at this time, we do not see 100% remote work as a good fit for us.
