Chief Technology Officer (CTO)
Join our exciting journey ahead building, operating, and scaling Funnel’s highly ambitious SaaS product!
Do you want to be a part of a world-class tech organization built on trust and transparency, collaboration, and a growth mindset? Then you would definitely thrive as a “Funneler”! We are looking for a CTO who will join our exciting journey ahead building, operating, and scaling Funnel’s highly ambitious SaaS product. We will do this together - with high engagement, autonomy, and a lot of fun!
The Development team
Before we describe the role, we want to give you an overview of how we have organized our Development team. We have cut out middle management and the various titles you otherwise might find in a tech organization. We are divided into multiple “tribes” consisting of teams with three to four developers. Each tribe has a tribe leadership team consisting of a Deputy CTO, a Head of Product, and a Head of Design. Working here as a developer goes beyond writing code. The team has full autonomy and ownership of their part in the Funnel app, where the team can decide their own work and processes.
We have a tech-agnostic approach where we are open to using any technology as long as it solves business problems. Here, you will find teams that are working with various programming languages and tools. You can read more about how we work and what we do at our Funnel dev blog.
What you will do
You will be responsible for ensuring that Funnel maintains a world-class tech organization that is capable of supporting the company with technology, innovation, and operation as it continues to grow. You will have a team of six Deputy CTOs, who together are responsible for 90+ developers across three tribes. You will report directly to the CEO, and be a part of the executive team.
Key responsibilities:
Provide leadership for the cross-functional “tribes”, in close collaboration with the Chief Product Officer and the Chief Design Officer.
Responsible for the technical compliance of the product and development processes according to agreed security frameworks and working closely with the CISO and the Information Security department.
Provide input and estimates for the annual budget in terms of headcount, infrastructure, software, and training.
Managing the department budget and resources.
Contribute to the Product Strategy led by the Chief Product Officer.
Leading the development organization in continuous learning and improvements, you are also responsible for:
Encouraging a healthy, learning organization with active learning initiatives in areas like psychological safety, and team collaboration as well as hard tech topics and user experience.
Providing amazing 3rd-line support related to the product, to colleagues, and to customers.
Understanding the current and future needs of users and how this relates to new tech opportunities.
Growing and improving product capabilities directed by the Product Strategy using fast feedback loops and Continuous Deploy.
Growing the organization, supported by the Talent team, making sure the quality of new hires is outstanding in technical skills, as well as growth and collaboration mindset, kindness, and safety.
Who you are
We are heavily invested in servant leadership, radical responsibility, and agile and lean methods, and hope you are too! Furthermore, this describes you:
You are selfless, caring, and attentive to what others think and feel. You are supportive and helpful. This makes you a team player and a cross-collaborating people person.
You are receptive to new experiences, ideas, and learning. You have a drive to learn and an aspiration to contribute.
You are accepting and receptive toward other people. You show interest in the ideas of other people and have a positive attitude to change.
You have a concern for and commitment to the needs of others, customers, and colleagues. You show sensitivity to other perspectives, while you have a driving force and ambition to contribute.
What you have done
10+ years of experience in tech leadership roles in Lean/Agile-oriented environments.
Strong leadership and team-building skills, including a track record of coaching and servant leadership.
A technology background with a solid understanding of modern development and how modern tech teams work and how to benefit fully from cloud architecture, infrastructure-as-code, and continuous deployment.
An understanding of commercial and financial aspects of software and how it relates to company finances.
Fluent in English.
It is highly desirable if you are able to comfortably follow other conversations in Swedish (but it is not a must-have).
